Classical Prague at night

Prague is a beautiful city in daylight and even more so once the sun sets.
We decided that we'd have a truly classical evening in Prague by starting the evening with a visit to the Rudolfinium - an amazing venue for exhibitions and concert performances - to see and more importantly hear the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.
The performance was for just one hour. But what a wonderful hour of music that was. Personally I always thought "classical music - I can take it or leave it". But last nights performance was inspiring and well worth the 1100 Czech Koruna each we had paid for our seats in the second row.
It was not the full orchestra, just a string quintet - 3 violins, 1 cello and 1 double bass but the sound that they produced was absolutely wonderful. They played classic favourites - well known pieces by some of the best composers of all time.....Mozart, Vivaldi, Bach, Brahms, Dvorak to name but a few. It gave me goose pimples - always a good sign when it comes to inspirational music. I have to admit it beat any rock concert that I have ever been to and that includes Springsteen, Elton John etc.
We were so impressed we even shelled out for a copy of the CD in the foyer afterwards.

With the CD safely tucked away in Lizzie's handbag we had a stroll along the riverside toward the Charles Bridge, hoping that it wouldn't be as crowded as it had been earlier in the day.
Although there were a few less people than earlier, the bridge was still wall to wall with happy snappers all trying to capture that perfect night time Prague vista.
Here are a few shots along the river.....Charles Bridge.....Prague Castle.....and some shots from the town.

Just a short blog this time......just wanted to get the photos out there.
